A Short Story for 1,000 Followers: Making a Fresh Start
“What are you two little monkeys up to?” the man said to the young men as he walked into the room.
“Nothing!” The two youngsters said in unison as they looked up at him, their cheeky smiles melted the older man’s heart.
David and Kieron weren’t given the best start in life. David’s parents would spent all their money on drugs, cigarettes and alcohol while Kieron spent his early years living in a house filled with festering laundry, filth and neglect. Both boys were taken into care before they started school, and each past around foster home after foster home, never settling down and never experiencing what is to be loved.
That changed when Philip walked into their lives. The boys, aged 16 and 17, on the verge of being spat out of the foster care system were handed over to the man, in what was to be their last chance the two youngsters could ever have of finding a loving home.
Things were terrible at first, the two bickered and fought over just about everything. They shouted, swore and punched each other, determined to prove themselves as Alpha Male, and worst of all – in Philip’s eyes at least, neither boy was willing to let their guard down to a man who was providing them a bed to sleep in, a house to live in and a kitchen full of food.
It was one night as Philip lay in bed crying to sleep after he found the boys nearly killing each other, after having to break up another extremely violent fight between the two. Thinking how he was failing the boys he dearly loved, he came to a conclusion that would change their lives forever: the boys had grown-up too fast. He saw it as his duty to make sure he would set things right.
“We’re going to start again, all three of us,” their kindly career said following day, and proposed a series of requests to the two that he assured them would guarantee that they would always be safe, and always be happy.
Philip was amazed how quickly the behaviour of his two ward’s changed. It was as if the new rules and structure he gave the boys had put any hard feelings they had behind them and they moved forward in a more positive direction.
“What exactly are you doing with that can of cream?” he asked that morning after catching the boys engaging in some early morning hi-jinx. The boys glared at each other accusingly before beautiful smiles and giggles broke though their faces. “Breakfast is on the table, go!” Phillips sighed, rolling his eyes as the boys, now aged 19 and 20, ran past him, thick night-time diapers crinkling under their pjs.
After eating, the boys were dressed for the day, diapers, t-shirts and overalls — perfect for a lazy Sunday full of play; one boy taped into his favourite Cushies diapers and the other in his preferred Teddy Bambinos.
It wasn’t until late that afternoon until Philip managed to join his boys in the den and sat down on the couch with his carefree little guys. A youngster either side of him, one rested his head on Philip’s shoulder and the other wraps his arms around his daddy in a cuddle, as they sat and watched some football.
“I love you, Dad,” Kieron said as he planted a kiss on his daddy’s check.
“Me too,” David said as he hugged Philip tighter.
“I love you too, boys,” he said as reciprocated the hugs and kisses.
Philip knew that since he took the initiative to make sure that the pair were diapered 24/7, his boys have never been happier. Their days are filled with play, kisses and cuddles, and he makes sure his boys are always clean and dry. Each day ends with a bubble bath (complete with water pistols and splashing) then bed in comfy pjs and a thick diaper
But most importantly their is unconditional love. David and Kieron can’t imagine what life what be like any other way and have whole heartedly accepted their new lot in life; their new lives as their daddy’s baby boys.
